DR. DOMINIQUE GAGNON

Dr. Dominique Gagnon

Dr. Dominique Gagnon graduated medical school from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock TX in 2019. She became a board-certified Family Medicine Physician and completed her residency at TTUHSC in 2022.

Prior to her medical career, she was studying the human body at the small molecules level. She obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees in biophysics and molecular physiology at the University of Montreal in Montreal (Canada) prior to moving to the Unites States. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow with a member of the National Academy of Sciences, Francisco “Pancho” Bezanilla in Chicago. She then taught undergraduate physics at Texas Tech University. Her work contributed to a better understanding of microscopic molecular machines from the gut, nerve and muscle cells that are drug targets and contribute to health and diseases. One of her clinical research projects aimed at understanding the complex processes involved during labor in the uterus muscle cells. It is at that time that she decided to fulfil her childhood dream of becoming a doctor.

She enjoys providing care to patients of all ages and conditions, caring for the entire families, and importantly, providing gynecologic and obstetric care. She had many inspiring relationships that led her to chose family medicine, including her own family doctor in Chambly and Dr. Allen at TTUHSC as well as many others, including Dr. Klein who strongly recommended LHC in Littlefield as a unique family centered environment to continue providing care to the population of rural west Texas.

She was raised in Carignan, a village adjacent to the small town of Chambly, in rural Quebec, province of Canada. Her father was an elementary school PE teacher, and her mom’s true passion was helping people in any way she could, as exemplified by her work as a missionary in Iquitos, Peru.

Dr. Gagnon has a supportive husband Pablo Artigas, a biophysicist and professor at TTUHSC. They have a 9-year-old son, Sebastian, who enjoys soccer, math and reading. They love to travel and discover new cultures, as well as hiking, camping, and enjoy friends and family time.
